ROCKET Air Ambulance Northern Cape recently invited various emergency service providers in Kimberley to attend the Part 138 HEMS Operations Course (Air Ambulance Operations).
The focus of the course was to educate the various emergency services on the standard of operations within air ambulance operators and to always ensure a safe working environment in and around a HEMS aircraft. The course also included how to load and unload a patient in a safe manner as well as the various equipment utilised.
CAT 138 is a pre-requisite, required by the South African Civil Aviation Authority before any crew can work on a medical aircraft and is valid for a period of 12 months.
