Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) organised an unexpected drill simulating a Boeing aircraft crash at the O.R. Tambo International Airport.
The involved aircraft belonged to ‘ZZZ Airlines’, with the registration ‘ZS-ZZZ’, carrying 194 passengers and a crew of 6. The aircraft had fuel onboard (FOB) of 2500 kilograms and was located on Runway 21L at O.R. Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) when the exercise began. The simulated problem was a steering failure. In response to this incident ROCKET was swiftly dispatched to pick up a Priority 1 injured patient for an emergency evacuation. Despite the surprise nature of the simulation, the overall management and control of the scene demonstrated a high level of professionalism and dedication from all the participating emergency response services, under the guidance of the Airport Rescue Coordination Center (ARCC), which effectively coordinated the entire simulation. #acsa #rocket #ARCC #patientcentric #industryleadingapproach #care #communication #collaboration
